Positive: My girlfriend and I visited Retreat La Stallina for a week during the mid of September. Arriving at the location it immediately became apparent how lovely and friendly our hostess was, from the communication beforehand to the initially connect on site. We were warmly welcomed and given a detailed introduction into the home and its amenities. We were assured to contact her in case of any issues. Initially entering the home it was apparent that there was a lot of effort put into making the stay as luxurious as possible and it must be said that the home is very modern if you are looking for an alternative to more rustic Tuscan locations. Upon arriving, the home was extremally clean and well prepared for us. There are few things missing in regards to amenities. You are provided with a full kitchen (no full oven) including a tab coffee machine (tabs included), dishwasher and a microwave/oven. The kitchen is fully equipped! There are many lovely locations to spend time at the location, either during downtime or even spending the whole day at the house. We had some really lovely nights sitting outside at the pool or in the back underneath the vines. We also had a great time spending time inside / outside the pool. You can really wind down here and enjoy some quite time. Although you share the same building with neighbours, you rarely notice their presence and feel like you have the whole place to yourself. There is just so much space to yourself with the pool area in the front and the nice vine terrace out back. On top we were surprised with some additional gifts in form of a wine and oil from their family owned vineyard and olive grove. This was a very kind gesture and we really appreciated this. On top there is an option to order some more products on site if you wish to enjoy it there or take it home. We ordered some bottles of wine and it arrived next morning. The wine there is definitely in competition with the large wine producers in the area! :)

Negative: After visiting the location I recommend being an experienced driver or when having the option, bringing a small car. The roads up to Retreat La Stallina can be hard to traverse and we had our fair shares of encounters with local drivers on a approximately 3.5 meter wide road with, at some points, no possibility of giving way to the right. If you plan a very outgoing visit to Tuscany, we recommend planning some additional kilometres. Florence is easy to reach, however going to chianti and beyond takes some time while traveling by car is a must. Going out to eat requires traveling a while. Although there are some options in Londa, the selection is limited, so we recommend shopping to eat / make food at the location. In regards to the location itself, while we really appreciated the amenities on site, we were missing dishwasher tabs and kitchen rolls so these are a must to bring. During our stay (mid of September) the shower water was a bit cold and the blankets a bit to light, although it must be mentioned that our lovely hostess offered more blankets from her home!!

Summary: When looking for a relaxing and secluded stay, you found the right location. We really recommend it!
