Travel Purpose: business

Positive: Lovely location in the Tuscan countryside. Generally speaking, it should be a nice venue for a quiet and relaxing holiday with a family group. The buildings and pool are well constructed. The "maintainer" or the man who fixes any issues and looks after the pool was responsive and on call seemingly at any time. He did his job in a effective and quietly efficient manner. There were a number of issues however that are outlined below.

Negative: I was with a large family group of adults and children and the general consensus was that the internal parts of the property is in need of investment in soft furnishings and requires a deeper regular clean (remove cobwebs, clean extractor hood fan above hob, some internal issues with ants that could be easily dealt with etc.) than it seems to be getting. The pool's soft furnishings could be replaced also. The other issue to be aware of is that, despite the seeming remoteness of the location it is close to another similar villa (albeit not overlooked). Unfortunately for us, it was occupied by a group of people who had brought a large commercial-level sound system with them from Germany. On a couple of nights a party kicked off at 2am and lasted until after 5:30 am - waking most of the group up with their thundering sub-woofer that was strong enough to shake the house. Despite a complaint, it was not dealt with as satisfactorily as we expected - i.e. local police to pay a visit and provide a warning and then immediate action taken on repetition. You expect most people to exhibit some level of consideration, respect and maturity for their neighbours but this was not the case here. Maybe we were just unlucky in terms of our timing but I would recommend that you check who might be staying in the villa next to you before you book to avoid this experience. Address the above and you have a great venue.
