Up a small flight of steps from the entrance hall, guests will find the spacious living room which has a panoramic view of Mount Mottarone. The apartment is on the outskirts of the unspoiled town of Gignese. It is quieter and less crowded than the lakeside towns. Gignese is surrounded by forest and offers some wonderful hiking and mountain biking through the trees with spectacular lake views.
Nearby Stresa (10 minutes) is best known for its grand Art Deco villas and elegant hotels. Its lakefront promenade gives visitors the perfect location for admiring both the lake and the town. Stresa hosts many international cultural festivals including cinema and music throughout the year. The weekly market (Friday mornings) is a treasure trove for the best local produce. Otherwise, there are many excellent grocery shops and supermarkets close by.
It is easy to explore Lake Maggiore as there is a pier in Piazza Marconi (18 minutes) in Stresa where you can catch a ferry to the famous Borromean Islands. With their beautiful villas, gardens and churches, the islands make a great day trip.
For children, the Alpyland Mottarone Adventure Park is 22 minutes away. There are rides and activities for all ages.
