The living space consists of six large rooms that include a majestic living/dining room with classic barrel-vault ceiling, four spacious bedrooms with bright windows, a separate kitchen, and two comfortable bathrooms. The outer walls of the villa are over one meter thick and keep the interior fresh and temperate during most of the year. For maximum comfort, each room is equipped with an independent air conditioning unit. In the back of the villa there is still the original courtyard, enclosed by a tall wall for privacy, where you can find the old fireplace (which comes handy for barbecues). From the terrace, which can be used as a private solarium, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the sea and surrounding area or admire the enchanting Salento's sunsets.
The villa has a large porch, of 60 square meters, with classic style tiled roofs, surrounded by columns of local "pietra leccese" stone, where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner outdoors or simply relax and unwind while reading a good book.
The structure was built at the beginning of the 1800s as one of the first manor residences in the area, formerly a vast vineyarded latifundium. The original owner appreciated the quality of the wine produced, but rarely visited this place. During an occasional visit, he was accompanied by his young wife who fell in love with the crystalline sea and ordered the construction of this villa as their summer residence.
The land around the villa, partly intended for seasonal crops, is completely enclosed by a wall made of stone blocks, closed by a wrought iron gate. On the property, century-old fig trees coexists with more recent marine pine trees and other typical mediterranean vegetation, including oleanders, pittosporum, caper, rosemary and thyme. Because of its privileged position and the presence of large outdoor living spaces, this property provides a conducive environment for relaxation and is ideal for families with young children.
This villa is located in "Posto Rosso" (Alliste marina), in an quaint residential area. The sea water is just 100 meters away, the coast is rocky but low and flat (ideal for snorkeling) while less than 4 km (reachable in a few minutes by car, bike or scooter) are beaches of fine white sand, that have nothing to envy the atolls of the Maldives.
From "Posto Rosso" you can easily reach the most sought after destinations of the lower Salento. You can immerse yourself in history in the streets of the legendary cities of Gallipoli and Otranto or be enchanted by the baroque architecture of Lecce or the luxurious liberty-style villas of Leuca.
Traveling along the coast, in the direction of Gallipoli, you will immediately find the marina of "Capilungo", characteristic for its emerald coves and for the presence of some of the best restaurants of the lower Salento. Continuing you will reach "Torre Suda" (2.5 km) with its shops and establishments, the "Marina di Mancaversa" (4 km), the sought-after sandy beaches "Lido Pizzo" (6.5 km), "Punta della Suina" (8 km) and the young people's favorite "Baia Verde" (12 km). The city of Gallipoli is about 18 km away. In the direction of Santa Maria di Leuca you immediately reach the lively seaside resort of "Torre San Giovanni" (less than 4 km) with its magnificent white sandy beaches, fishing port, numerous shops, restaurants and a characteristic weekly market (Monday ). Going further south, towards the extreme tip of the heel, you will find "Marina di Pescoluse" and the paradisiac beach "Maldive del Salento" (15 km). Santa Maria di Leuca is located about 32 km towards the south.
