One can not fail to mention, then, the sanctuary of Santa Maria di Zena, better known as Mount of the Ants. This name comes from a very special natural phenomenon that occurs every year, from the earliest times, when in the early days of September, the males of winged ants migrate from the center of Europe in droves on this summit to do their nuptial flight.
